At my kids’ schools, they get to choose particular jobs that they complete throughout the day. Both of them love it when they are chosen to be the line leader in their classes. When they are the line leaders, everyone else has to follow behind them and go where they go. They are essentially in charge of getting everyone to the right place at the right time.

In the first story about Mary in the Bible, she is found sitting at Jesus’ feet while He is teaching. Her sister Martha is distracted by the preparations and complains to Jesus that she is not helping her. Luke 10:41-42 says, “ ‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’ "

Jesus accepted the public worship of His followers and did not silence them. He stated if the people were silent, then the stones would cry out. It was a day to give praise. Let’s explore history to understand why it was such a great day that inanimate objects would have to praise God for the event.

So many of Paul’s letters were written from an interesting location, a dark prison cell. Honestly, after reading the Scriptures, one has to wonder if he spent more time in prison than out of it after he had converted to Christianity. But, oh, his reason for being in prison was glorious. Paul was thrown into prison for preaching the very Word of God,

While Daniel was studying the Scriptures written by Jeremiah, he realized that the Babylonian captivity would last 70 years. Jeremiah 29:10 says, “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place.” Knowing the end of the 70 years was near, Daniel cried out to God and confessed his sin and the sin of his people of Israel. While he was still praying,

The Mount of Olives is a ridge about two and a half miles long on the other side of the Kidron Valley east of Jerusalem. From this mount, Jesus instructed His disciples to find a donkey with her colt beside her. Scholars say the mother was most likely taken to calm the colt. The time had arrived for Jesus to enter Jerusalem, the “city of peace”.

John 2 tells us the story of Jesus’ first miracle. Jesus’ mother came to him on the third day of a wedding in Cana, and she said to her Son, “They have no more wine.” In verse 4, Jesus replied to her, “Dear woman, why do you involve me? My time has not come.” Six stone water jars filled to the brim with twenty to thirty gallons of water were turned to wine that day.

Saul was a legalist to a fault. He was so convinced that following the rules and regulations within the Old Testament Law was the way to God and righteousness. He had studied the teachings of the rabbi Hillel, which was a very progressive branch of Judaism. Most importantly, he was responsible for persecuting the church in his time because it did not fit with the teachings he had learned all of his life.

My sister Linda is such a blessing to me. God has been so kind to us that we live five minutes apart and have daughters in the same grade at school (first grade). Our daughters have been involved in swimming, dance, and now soccer together. My sister called me on the phone one day to tell me a story about Victoria.

One of my favorite movies of all time is Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade. You know the story, right? Dr. Indiana Jones goes off in search of his father who was on a quest for the Holy Grail – the Cup of Christ. In that movie, one of the most memorable scenes is after the big boat chase, and Dr. Jones is letting one of the Knights who had chased him out of the boat.
