Deluded Heart
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/3/2013 7:11 PM
We have been talking about how to find God’s best plan for our lives. We want to know the best path that brings the most glory to God on this side of heaven as well as satisfaction to our souls. In our quest to find the one true path, we need to address how to avoid being misled.

A New Creation

Do you let your past haunt you? When an old memory is brought to your mind of some of the things that you used to do that you would never do now, do you wear it like a heavy cloak? There is an old song by the Eagles called Lying Eyes about this adulterous woman who feels caught in her own web of deceit.

A New Body
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/3/2013 4:18 PM
Although it has been years, I can’t forget it. I hold onto this moment and hang my hope on God’s truth that He showed me. For my husband’s birthday, the five Mitchells went to go see the movie Avatar in 3D. Just before the movie, my Bible teacher Susan and I ran into each other as we were buying popcorn.

A New Song

My mother has given her daughters and granddaughters the legacy of music. She was born in the depression as the 11th of my grandfather’s 12 children. Her family was one of the poorest families in their small town, and as petite as she is, she was no stranger to hard work on the farm and harvest fields. When she was a teenager, her father found a way to get his youngest daughter a piano.

Thailand Missions: Update from the Kennedy's
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 10/30/2012 12:49 PM
Today I'll share an update from the Kennedy's, the missionary family that Christ Compels supports. Thailand's population is more than 65 million people, 21% are under the age of 14. Thailand is a source, transit and a destination country for Human Trafficking and is branded by its commercial sex trade. God has called the Kennedy's to extend the love of Christ to the people of this country. I pray God guide you to pray for the Kennedy's and the people of Thailand.

Wise Builders
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 10/26/2012 7:28 PM
Before I walked with Jesus, the storms in my life crashed my house down. Since I committed my life to Him, the storms haven’t crashed my house, but they still happen. Storms can be induced by self, other people, demons, the natural world we live in, or even God. Most of my storms were self-induced before I walked with Jesus. Praise God the self-induced storms are fewer and spaced out more.

A New Year
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 1/2/2012 4:12 PM
Happy New Year! I love it when the clock strikes 12:00 midnight on New Year’s Eve and the next year begins. Some people think it is just a change of the calendar. For me, the New Year symbolizes the beginning of something and with God a better something. For me, the New Year symbolizes another year to fulfill God’s wonderful plan and purpose for my life.

Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 12/30/2011 9:14 AM
At the beginning of every year, I take time to ponder over the year ahead and to evaluate my life. After spending time in prayer, I write down my list of goals for the year. When I was younger, it was a list of resolutions. However, resolutions were promises that I couldn’t keep. Once I broke it, guilt and inadequacy would contend for places in my heart.

I’m one of the few people who still send out Christmas cards and take the time to send a Christmas letter. I have not stepped into the electronic age of sending it through email or facebook. Plus there is just something about a letter that you can hold and read. Every year someone replies to me and tells me how much it meant to them and encouraged them. However, I know God has me do it for me, too.

The Outwitted’s Rage
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 12/21/2011 11:57 AM
King Herod was a monster. He was a brutal, power-thirsty ruler. Out of fear that they might take away his kingdom, he had his wife and three sons killed. Out of his desire for greatness, he rebuilt Solomon’s temple. Out of his desire to be mourned, he ordered that at his death that a representative from every Israeli family be put to death so there would be wailing when he died. Thankfully, his command was not carried out by his son.
