A Blinding Light
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/25/2010 7:31 AM
Saul was a legalist to a fault. He was so convinced that following the rules and regulations within the Old Testament Law was the way to God and righteousness. He had studied the teachings of the rabbi Hillel, which was a very progressive branch of Judaism. Most importantly, he was responsible for persecuting the church in his time because it did not fit with the teachings he had learned all of his life.

Not Going to Call Me!
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/24/2010 9:25 AM
My sister Linda is such a blessing to me. God has been so kind to us that we live five minutes apart and have daughters in the same grade at school (first grade). Our daughters have been involved in swimming, dance, and now soccer together. My sister called me on the phone one day to tell me a story about Victoria.

What Are You Seeking?
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/23/2010 9:09 AM
One of my favorite movies of all time is Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade. You know the story, right? Dr. Indiana Jones goes off in search of his father who was on a quest for the Holy Grail – the Cup of Christ. In that movie, one of the most memorable scenes is after the big boat chase, and Dr. Jones is letting one of the Knights who had chased him out of the boat.

Handed Over
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/22/2010 9:11 AM
Today, I was led by God to take us through the history of the downfall of Judah. Through history, we learn through others’ wise decisions, as well as their mistakes. We also learn about the character of God.

The Greater Law
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/19/2010 7:00 AM
Years ago I asked my husband, "Honey, when there are two Scriptures that seem to imply two different actions, how do I know which one to apply that day?" With great wisdom, he painted a word picture that I have NEVER forgotten.if a policeman is standing under a red light waving you through, which do you obey, the red light or the policeman? I did not even hesitate. "The policeman," I responded.

The Big Mess
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/18/2010 12:35 PM
The earth was indeed a mess – a moral mess. God had created all of these humans, and they had greatly increased in number to populate the earth. However, after being created, they had been cast out of the Garden of Eden for eating fruit from the forbidden tree. Also, their downward spiral in sin continued after leaving the Garden.

Never Alone
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/17/2010 7:09 AM
Please close your eyes, and imagine that you are in the boat with the disciples in the midst of this storm. A wave passes under the stern causing the boat to pitch steeply forward. Then another wave bursts against the bow, forcing it up steeply again like a bucking horse. The disciples and you feel the cold water splattering on your faces.

Christ Compels Ministry Blog - February Update
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/16/2010 5:06 PM
Let me just give you an update on what is in Christ Compels prayers and what the Lord has been saying to us. First of all, thank you for those that joined us in prayer about Joalyne. Your words of encouragement and joining forces in prayer mean so much to us.

I endeavor to come to the communion table with complete focus on the Lord’s sacrifice in order to be sure I never take this remembrance in a causal way or without the respect it should be given. I Corinthians 11:27 says, “Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.”

Love and Communication
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 2/14/2010 8:29 PM
If marriage was designed by God, then why is it so hard? Are you like me and have thought this so many times? Marriage is not for the faint-hearted, the naïve, and quitters. It is only for the resolved, determined, and the tenacious. I don’t know of any other thing in life that has as much influence on our fulfillment and joy.
