My Little Orange Purse
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 1/29/2010 1:59 PM
I admit it; I love to shop for purses. I am always in search of the perfect purse. However, I am convinced that the quest for the perfect purse is about as successful as tracking down the Loch Ness Monster.

A New Song
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 1/28/2010 8:49 AM
One of my favorite things to do is to sing and listen to music. I cannot do it well, but I do so enjoy it, especially when they are praises to my King. There are times in my life that I just cannot contain my joy for Him any longer, and I have to burst out in praise of Him and what he has done in my life.

The Good Samaritan’s Love
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 1/27/2010 9:21 AM
The Samaritan traveled by and reacted completely different than the two religious leaders that previously passed the injured man. God’s Word tells us that “when he saw him, he took pity on him.” This Greek word is splanchinizomai which means, “It is being moved to the point of one’s intestines or bowels”. The Samaritan felt compassion for the man so much that he physically ached for the man.

Annual Review
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 1/26/2010 9:59 AM
Recently at our company, I was asked to change positions and move to a new area. In this new role, I would be in management again, responsible for a group of extremely high level individuals doing Marketing Intelligence. At first, I was a bit unsure of this new move, but God confirmed this move several different ways. In this new position, my managerial responsibilities would include leading this team to turn a corporate vision into a team mission

Jesus’ Brothers
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 1/25/2010 8:52 AM
What do you think it would be like to have Jesus as your older brother? Matthew 13:55 tells us that four men named James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas had this pressure of the truly Perfect older brother. When my younger sister and I were growing up, we would describe our older sister Peggy as perfect to our friends. She had perfect grades and perfect behavior.

Jesus in a Box
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 1/22/2010 12:04 PM
Saul was one of those people in the Bible who I'm sure no one would have given a second thought of doing anything positive for the Kingdom. Who would have ever thought that the Lord would use the very man killing those who called on His name to advance the gospel? We can learn a lot from Saul and his transformation and why we should never put Jesus in a box.

A New House
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 1/21/2010 11:36 AM
About 3 years ago, Tony and I were blessed with our second child Grace. With two children, and most of our family living out of town, we were quickly running out of room in our tiny, little ranch-style home. We prayed and prayed about whether it was time to build a larger house that would actually accommodate more people. Our dream was to have a house that we could have small group Bible study in,

Testing the Gospel
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 1/20/2010 2:50 PM
God finally told me that it was my season to read the book Always Enough by Rolland and Heidi Baker. The Bakers are missionaries to the poorest people on earth. This book tells of their stories in Mozambique, a war-torn, famine stricken country with thousands of throw-away children. They show that God is still in the miracle business.

Just New
Devotions and Christ Compels Updates 1/20/2010 2:49 PM
As we prepare for the New Year, I hear so many people talking about their New Year’s resolutions they hope to fulfill throughout the coming 365 days. People have such different ideas for what needs to be changed: many want to loose weight or just get healthier, many want to finish a project they started (or thought about starting) the year before, others decide they will draw closer to God and studying His word.

I mentioned to you last week about Shauna taking a step back from writing so many devotions and posting all of the devotions every week. You’ll still hear from Shauna some on Tuesdays, but for the times that she doesn’t have a devotion, God is leading me to take the time on Tuesdays to share with you more from my heart.
